Rubber wiper

1. The deformation is slow. At very low temperatures, the vibrational energy is not enough to overcome the attractive force, the rubber becomes a hard solid, and the deformation motion of the rubber molecules cannot be accomplished instantaneously, because the intermolecular attractive force must be overcome by the vibrational energy of the atoms. If the temperature is lowered, these vibrations become less active and the attractive forces between the molecules are not destroyed as quickly.

2. If the temperature is constant, the deformation speed increases, which can also produce the same effect as reducing the temperature. At extremely high deformation rates, the rubber molecules don't have time to rearrange and behave as a hard solid.

3. Under the action of stress, the molecular chain of the rubber material will be slowly destroyed, resulting in "creep", that is, the deformation gradually increases. When the deformation force is removed, this creep creates a small irreversible deformation called "permanent deformation".
